This robin is formed from copper powder–infused material, 3D printed, then carefully sanded, shaped, and hand-finished to soften edges and refine the silhouette. Once the form is complete, it’s treated with layered patinas that bring depth and variation to the surface—allowing the copper to develop character rather than a uniform finish.
The process intentionally bridges digital and physical making. Printing allows us to achieve delicate shapes and thin sections that would be difficult or impractical to fabricate traditionally, while the hand-finishing ensures no piece feels mechanical or repetitive. The final patina reacts differently on every surface, making each robin subtly unique.
We’re interested in materials that change with time, that show evidence of both how they’re made and how they age. Copper does that naturally. Its surface shifts, deepens, and settles, much like the quiet presence of the bird itself.
Designed and finished by us in small batches, this piece is meant to live comfortably in natural light—on a shelf, in a window, or anywhere it can slowly evolve.
Each one is one-of-a-kind and will be different and special in its unique way. The Artist hand works each piece.
