Description

Located at Fort Constitution in New Castle, Portsmouth Harbor Light is the only lighthouse located on the mainland in the state of New Hampshire. Also known as Fort Constitution Light, Fort Point Light, and New Castle Light, the first lighthouse was originally established in July of 1771, making it the first light station north of Boston in the American colonies.

The light was electrified in 1925 and automated in 1960. The lighthouse remains an active aid to navigation and is part of the Fort Constitution Historic Site, adjacent to an active Coast Guard Station.

  • Printed on high quality archival luster paper using rich colored inks.
