Richard had been working on a black crystalline glaze in his final years. He and I would discuss tones and combinations, always taking inspiration from the natural beauty of the MidCoast. With Richard's notes, and after many, many tests, the resulting glaze has a black accent with blue-gray hues and a touch of silvery clouds breaking through: a little light in the darkness, just as in life. 

We dedicate this glaze to Richard Hilton, very dear and deep in our hearts.
